‘I invite viewers to pause and reimagine the quiet intimacy of these everyday moments.’

I created these pieces to celebrate the quiet, often unnoticed moments of daily life. As someone on the autism spectrum, I’m deeply attuned to subtle sounds, and I wanted to share the comfort and beauty I find in them through bold, vibrant visuals.

In these pieces, I aimed to encapsulate and honour the often-overlooked moments that quietly shape and enrich our everyday lives. As someone on the autism spectrum, I experience the world through a heightened sensitivity to sound—particularly those subtle, ambient noises that tend to go unnoticed by others. These gentle, rhythmic sounds—from the steady whir of the washing machine as it dutifully spins, to the soft bubbling of the kettle as it readies a warm cup of tea, and the delicate whispers of laundry swaying in the breeze—offer me a deep sense of calm, connection, and familiarity.

Through this body of work, I wanted to celebrate these experiences by transforming them into something visually compelling and emotionally resonant. By using bold, inverted colours and vivid contrasts, I invite viewers to pause and reimagine the quiet intimacy of these everyday moments. My intention was to draw attention to the sensory richness found in the seemingly mundane, and to encourage a deeper appreciation for the small, beautiful rhythms that so often pass us by.
